Information about Winster in the Derbyshire Dales
for residents and visitors
The Village Choir was formed in 2007, as a choir for the village of Winster. Anyone from the village is welcome to join, regardless of age, experience or the ability to read music. We currently have about 20 members, with an age range of about 80 years.
Our repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing sacred and secular music, from a variety of styles and periods, and we perform in local halls and churches. Recent engagements have included music to accompany mystery plays, a folk night and Christmas and Easter services in the village church.
Listen to the choir singing "Oh for the wings of a dove" as part of Radio 3's Mendelssohn celebration. (It's a 5Mb file, so it may take a few moments to download).
