| OS Maps - Winster is on Landranger (1:50,000) sheet 119 (Buxton & Matlock, Bakewell & Dovedale) and Explorer (1:25,000) sheet 24 (White Peak Area) - both available from Winster Post Office or (post free) from mapkiosk. Click the link to find Winster on www.multimaps.co.uk - online maps at a choice of scales. Or try Google Maps - less detail on the map, but very slick. If you are patient (or have a fast link) try the Multimaps Overlay Map for Winster - a combination of aerial photograph and streetmap - very clever. For higher-quality aerial images, try Windows Live Local. For old maps of Winster (and anywhere else in the UK), have a look at www.old-maps.co.uk (for large-scale detailed maps) or the New Popular Edition website (which has scans of out-of-copyright OS maps from the 1940's). There are also three specific Winster maps: - a boring-but-functional black-and-white map of Winster (useful for visitors and delivery people) - available for download in Acrobat format. - a simple car parking map showing where you can most sensibly park your car in Winster if wanting to use the village as the start-point for a day's walking. (Parking, on-street or in car parks - is free - how about calling in to our community-owned Village Shop to spend some of the money you have saved on parking?) - a splendid colour map, with a persective drawing of the village, and illustrations showing the more notable buildings in the village - on sale in the village or by Mail Order. And if none of this looks right, could it be that you are looking for Winster in Cumbria instead? (That's where you'll find the Bay Horse pub and the Damson Festival). We don't know of any website for them, but here is a link to a Map for Winster, Cumbria |
